Allergic Reactions

An allergic reaction may be the result of vaccinations, medications, new objects in the household (new carpet or a new dog bed), insect bites, or new foods.

Mild Reaction Signs

  • Intensive itching and redness of skin
  • Swelling (especially around the muzzle, ears and eyes)
  • Hives
  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea

First Aid: Seek veterinary attention immediately.

Severe Reaction Signs (Anaphylactic Shock)

These signs can appear seconds to one to two hours after exposure.

  • Pale gums
  • Fainting or collapse
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Repeated vomiting and/or diarrhea
